Spring Into Action
Today I am in beautiful South Lake Tahoe, CA where it is currently 45 degrees with a clear blue sky. Tomorrow I plan to ski at Heavenly Valley. I am rusty after almost 3 years since I’ve been skiing….After several years of drought, a foot injury, and let’s not forget the pandemic, I’m going to finally get back out there!
There are so many reasons why we delay making things happen – valid reasons and manufactured excuses. But eventually we need to overcome the obstacles, and spring into action.
Do any of these reasons for procrastination sound familiar? Perfectionism, fear of failure, fear of criticism, avoidance, low self-esteem, a tendency to self-defeat, depression, trouble focussing, ADHD, waiting until the last minute, task aversion, resisting challenges, decision fatigue, difficulty defining goals, a disconnect with the future self, lack of energy…..The list goes on. Everyone puts things off from time to time. But chronic procrastination can impact the quality of performance in life and overall well being.
Overcoming procrastination begins with realizing that you are doing it! When you look deeper at what’s causing it, you can find the strategy to manage and overcome it. Even people living a successful life can struggle with the tendency to put off dealing with difficult problems or simply not living to one’s full potential. Let’s look at the full perspective off your life and find the tools and support for you to spring into action!
